What does Green Zone do?
We pick up clothing & shoes. We sell this to companies that sort through everything, one by one. They separate things out based on whether or not it can be reworn.
Things are either reworn, shredded down into fibers, or turned into wipers.
The shredded fibers are called shoddy, and are used in things like home insulation and fiberfill. Wipers are always useful for a mess!
In the US, almost 80 POUNDS of clothes & shoes are thrown away per person, per year. That’s a lot of textile waste! Almost all of this can be reused.
