We can take clothing, shoes, and other household textiles (including towels, sheets, belts, purses, etc) in our DropZones.

Any clothing or household textile can be recycled as long as it is WASHED & DRY, NOT MOLDY, and NOT CONTAMINATED with a solvent-type liquid (gasoline, Goof Off, etc.).

***No pillows, comforters, fabric scraps, foam mattresses or pads please

We collect clothing, shoes and other household textiles.  We repackage the material collected and sell it by the truckload to companies that sort through the materials and separate them out by quality.

45% of material is usable clothing.  This is resold and reused. 

20% of material is shredded down into fibers into what’s called shoddy.  This is used in a variety of applications like insulation, carpet padding, etc.
30% of material is cut into wiper cloth.

The re-wearable clothing ends up in both domestic and international markets.  We partner with SMART-affiliated organizations to ensure the sorting companies we sell to handle their materials responsibly.

If we have not serviced the bin yet, we are happy to give our driver your phone number next time to call next time we’re on the way to the bin.

***Please note, although we are always happy to try and help people recover lost items, we CANNOT GUARANTEE that you will be able to recover your item.  We process thousands of pounds of material a day at each of our warehouses.  We go by each of our bins at least once a week, and once we have serviced a bin we are not able to recover items.

We partner with local businesses, property managers, schools, places of worship, and other members of the community to provide convenient textile recycling bins (and other convenient pickup options!)
We service all our drop zones at least once weekly, ensuring that things are kept neat, tidy, and looking fresh!
Our customer service team is always available to ensure any issues are addressed promptly and increase weekly service frequency as needed.
Not only do these drop zones provide a valuable alternative to the landfill; we compensate our partners for collected materials, providing an easy passive income stream.

Very few communities understand the need for more convenient recycling containers.  Those that do may offer textile recycling at their citizen waste drop-off centers.  Many cities and counties are afraid of the proliferation of irresponsible reclamation operators and unfairly ban these businesses from operating within their jurisdiction.

Like many reclamation operators and waste haulers, we operate for-profit.  Green Zone is a member of the SMART Association and abides by their published Collection Bin Operator Code of Conduct.

Green Zone is a small family-owned business and our profit margins are used to sustain the business costs of collecting, storing, and transporting collected materials, and employing our great staff.

We are transparent with our business practices and list our for-profit status on our drop stations.  Our charitable acts, involvement in local communities, or offerings to help those in need are not advertised for the sake of good public relations.

Bottles, cans, paper, and other recycling commodities are collected by for-profit companies, and textile recycling is no different.  Private sector businesses offer many benefits to municipalities and contributions to meet national economic, philanthropic and environmental objectives.
